New DC Super Hero Girls Comic Launches As Digital First Series

by James Ferguson

We knew that DC Comics has some more DC Super Hero Girls coming as graphic novels. Now the publisher has doubled-down on the series with a new digital first weekly comic called Weird Science. The first chapter of the 14 part series is available now. Written by Amanda Deibert, DC Super Hero Girls: Weird Science features a rotating cast of artists including Yancey Labat, Agnes Garbowska, and Erich Owen, among others.

This comic is set in the same universe as the DC Super Hero Girls animated series airing on Sundays on Cartoon Network.  It’s an original story following Zatanna as she tries to help her friends with their projects for the Metropolis High science fair.  Magic and science don’t really mix so everything goes wrong.
I love that DC does these digital tie-ins.  I was a big fan of the Batman Beyond and Injustice series that began as digital first titles.  This is a great way to test the waters for additional stories and get new audiences interested in these characters at a low cost of entry.

DC Super Hero Girls: Weird Science #1 is available on ComiXology and Amazon Kindle. New issues will drop each week.
