Scott Snyder And Greg Capullo Announced On Spawn #300

by Olly MacNamee

With Spawn #300 nearly here, Image Comics are releasing more information of the other creators involved, plus the reveal of this awesome tongue-in-cheek homage cover by Todd McFarlane himself, treading very familiar grounds.

Well, Greg Capullo is to return to Spawn for this one-off art gig on a book that helped establish Capullo as one of the industry’s leading artists working in comics today, alongside McFarlane’s return to his creation, drawing a strip for the first time since 1995! And, McFarlane couldn’t be any happier:

The group of creative folks helping out on this historic Spawn 300th issue is something that I hope thrills the ‘inner 15-year-old’ in all of us. Plus, to have Greg Capullo come back to this title after so many long years, is what has me most excited as I personally consider him to be the top talent drawing in our industry today.

Spawn #300 will be out on August 29th as an oversized 72 page anniversary issue featuring the talent fo current Spawn artist, Jason Shawn Alexander, fan-favorite J. Scott Campbell (Danger GirlSpider-Man), rising star Jerome Opeña (Uncanny X-ForceSeven to Eternity) and best-selling writer Scott Snyder (BatmanMetalWytches). That’s a pretty impressive list, I think you’ll agree.

And, with #301 imminent too, this’ll make Spawn the longest running US independent comic of all time. In this day and age, that’s a feat in itself. Congrats, Todd, and congrats to Image Comics too.
