Epic Viking Action Comes To The Anime World With ‘Vinland Saga’

WIT Studio has released a third promotional video for their upcoming anime series, Vinland Saga. The story follows the viking Thorfinn as a member of Askeladd’s mercenary vikings. While Askeladd’s group mostly only care about pillaging, Thorfinn is chasing revenge against the man who killed his father, Askeladd himself. Lacking the strength to kill Askeladd in a duel, he works with Askeladd and their group to train and earn the right to eventually challenge and slay the man who ruined his family. Eventually, Thorfinn is drawn into far bigger problems though, when Askeladd learns that Canute, the Prince of the Danes, has been kidnapped.
The series will be directed by Shuuhei Yabuta (Inuyashiki, Attack on Titan), while the screenplay will be handled by Hiroshi Seko (Ajin, Inuyashiki) and Kenta Ihara (Ajin, Youjou Senki), with Takahiko Abiru (RideBack, Blue Exorcist) doing character designs.

The new PV also features the series’ opening song, Survive Said The Prophet by Mukanjyo. Vinland Saga is scheduled to begin July 8th, but it’s first episode airs on Amazon Prime Video in Japan on July 6th. The series is currently scheduled to run 24 episodes.
