While the Mercy Graves of Earth-38 may be dead, she lives on in other realities.
Deadline reports the character will appear in the second season of DC Universe’s Titans in the form of actor Natalie Gumede. Described as the “ruthless, cunning, right hand and bodyguard to the notorious Lex Luthor,” she will also be portrayed as a life-long friend of the family. One presumes she will be tasked with returning Connor Kent (Joshua Orpin) to Lex’s side once his escape from CADMUS becomes known.
At least, that’s what we’re assuming as other casting announcements indicate the season will dive deeper into the fathers-and-children material the first season only teased with Raven (Teagan Croft) and Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites). Besides the well-established paternal issues those characters face, the season will also introduce Esai Morales as Deathstroke and Chelsea T. Zhang and Chella Man as his “wayward” children. Additionally, Iain Glen will appear as an aged and ready to retire Bruce Wayne. Will he convince Dick to take his place as the Batman?
Originally debuting on Superman: The Animated Series, Mercy eventually entered DC Comics cannon and reappeared as the Tess Mercer character on Smallville. Rhona Mitra played Mercy for a brief arc at the beginning of Supergirl‘s fourth season, but was quickly killed when her plan seemingly failed.
Titans returns later this year on DC universe.
