Akira Meets The DCU – New Art For Legion of Superheroes: Millennium Revealed
by Olly MacNamee
As if I wasn’t already excited by the prospect of the Legion of Superheroes returning this September from DC Comics and writer Brian Michael Bendis, to see an early look at André Lima Araújo’s (Generation Gone) naked black and white art pages for the first issue of Legion of Superheroes: Millennium #1 has ramped up my excitement to eleven. I couldn’t think of a better fit for this futuristic series, because I think Araújo’s aesthetics and training as an architect will really shake things up a bit and offer us a very different, refreshing LSH; Akira meets the DCU.
DC have also thrown in the cover to issue #2 by the master of covers, Ryan Sook, with issue #1’s cover already shared previously. It also gives us the best look of what the collective LSH will all look like too. These ain’t your Ma or Pa’s LSH that’s for sure.
And, as if that wasn’t enough, we also have slew of new character designs, including Matter Eating Lad, who’s a far cry from what I remembered.
There’s plenty to feast your eyes upon here, so do enjoy ahead of the mini-series debuting only a few short months away now, this September 4th from DC Comics.
