Elements of Hawkeye‘s creative team are starting to slot into place.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Mad Man vet Jonathan Igla will write and executive produce the upcoming Disney+ series based on the Marvel Comics characters of the same name. Actor Jeremy Renner, who has played Hawkeye Clint Barton in the Avengers films, will reprise his role. But in a twist, the program will see him training a new Hawkeye — fan favorite Kate Bishop. Of course, it is always possible Kate will teach Clint a thing or two.
The series will be an official part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 4 and, presumably, see Kate eventually join film side of things at some point. That said, Hawkeye — both of them — were always better suited to a television format, anyway. The other Phase 4 Disney+ series include The Falcon and the Winter Solider, WandaVision, and Loki. Three more Marvel Studios series are also in development for the streaming platform: Moon Knight, Ms. Marvel, and She-Hulk.
Hawkeye, meanwhile, is set to debut sometime in the Fall of 2021.
