The Terminator Comes To Mortal Kombat 11
by Sage Ashford
A new guest character has entered the most dangerous franchise in the world of fighting games, as the Terminator comes to Mortal Kombat.
Using a pretty accurate likeness of “Ah-nold”, we get to see all of the various combos this latest fighter is capable of. Fully aware of how similar he is to one of their other characters, NRS runs right into the comparison by having the T-800’s main opponent in the trailer be Jax. Terminator has the classic shotgun weapon as well as plenty of great moves, though most noticeably is his ability to transform into the full metal self and have armor to ignore attacks for a surprising length of time.
His finisher is pretty slick, too. After beating Jax, he teleports him into the far future, where he’s hunted down by Skynet’s never-ending robot forces.
From a media perspective, being a child of the 80’s and 90’s is pretty sweet right now. Power Rangers and Ninja Turtles are two of the hottest properties in comics right now. He-Man and She-Ra are part of a cartoon revival on Netflix. Now we’ve got Terminator in…seemingly as many games as possible, from Gears 5 to Ghost Recon. It’s obvious they’re just trying to get the name out there as much as possible for Terminator: Dark Fate, but this is a pretty good way to go about that comparatively. They could be trying to churn out a new video game no one asked for.
Terminator comes to Mortal Kombat 11 on October 8th.
