Zoe Kravitz Cast As The Batman’s Catwoman
by Erik Amaya
Deadline reports X-Men: First Class‘s Zoe Kravitz has been cast as Catwoman in Warner Bros. Pictures upcoming The Batman. The film, to be directed by Matt Reeves and starring Robert Pattinson, will be the latest reinvention of the Caped Crusader after Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and Zack Snyder’s short lived Justice League cycle.
Besides Pattinson and Kravitz, the film will feature Jeffrey Wright as Jim Gordon and Jonah Hill in an as-yet undisclosed villainous role.
Catwoman herself has been around almost as long as the Batman’s chief villain, The Joker, but her role as a member of the rogues gallery has changed over the years. In recent times, Selina Kyle is as often a hero as she is an antagonist, so it it remains to be seen what role she will play in The Batman.
Previously, Reeves said the film would find Batman more in his “detective mode than we’ve seen in the films. The comics have a history of that. He’s supposed to be the world’s greatest detective, and that’s not necessarily been a part of what the movies have been.” The film will also reportedly avoid retelling Batman’s origins even as it focuses on a younger Dark Knight.
The Batman is set for release on June 25th, 2021
