Flight Simulator “Airplane Mode” First Title From AMC Games

by Gary Catig

AMC has dabbled in video games by partnering with third party publishers to develop titles before — The Walking Dead mobile games come to mind. Now, the media company plans to take a bigger step by creating their own games imprint, AMC Games.
Their first project will be Airplane Mode, a different kind of flight simulator. Instead of stepping into the pilot’s seat and navigating the airways, you assume the role of a passenger on a commercial flight across the Atlantic.
Grab a window seat and go through every travel detail in real time from taxi and take-off to meal services and inflight entertainment. The events are randomized for each session providing a different experience each time.
Features include:

  • Fairly accurate satellite imagery of your flight path;
  • Carry-on bag with a book, headphones, pen, and charging cable;
  • Overhead reading light and complimentary aircraft information card;
  • IFC-produced inflight safety video;
  • Chance of inclement weather (turbulence), bad WiFi, and delays;
  • Authentic ambient noise; and
  • Inflight magazine filled with travel articles, crossword and Sudoku.

For this first title, AMC Games partnered with “slightly off” sibling company, IFC, for promotion and the inflight safety video. Airplane Mode is from the mind of Hosni Auji and you can watch a special alpha build during the Desert Bus For Hope 2019 charity livestream on November 12. Look for the game to launch in 2020.
