DC Comics To Relaunch Suicide Squad From Tom Taylor And Bruno Redondo

by Olly MacNamee

As well as announcing a follow up mini-series set in the DCeased universe written by Tom Taylor, DC Comics have now revealed Taylor will be writing the newest rendition of Task Force X, or Suicide Squad, as they are better known.

The Squad’s new mission is to neutralize a group of international super-terrorists known as the Revolutionaries. But when the surviving Revolutionaries join the Squad, all hell breaks loose! Who can Harley Quinn and Deadshot trust when their new teammates are the very people their crew was assigned to kill? The Suicide Squad doesn’t just need to worry about surviving their next mission…now they have to survive each other!

Joining Taylor on this new series, debuting December 18th, is artists Bruno Redondo, who’s been sharing his character designs for what seem to be, pretty much, an all new cast  and all-new characters too. With the odd familiar face thrown in, for assurance that fans will pick up an issue if they see Harley Quinn (surely DC Comics very own Wolverine these days, she’s appearing so much across the DCU?) or Deadshot on the team.
With so many new, fresh villains on the team, any one of them could well be snuffed off even before the first issue is up, especially as some may well feel split allegiances, having once been part of the very terrorist group they have now been tasked with bringing down. Making this a very interesting book, indeed. For now, though, enjoy taking in Redondo’s very contemporary feeling designs. They’re certainly the best dressed inmates this season, that’s for sure.
Suicide Squad #1 is out December 18th from DC Comics
