Archeopunk Arkworld Launches On Kickstarter From Devil’s Due Comics

by James Ferguson

A couple months ago, Devil’s Due Comics announced Arkworld, a series exploring a new genre dubbed “archeopunk” mixing science fiction, fantasy, archaeology, and ancient (possibly alien-influenced) technology. Now it’s on Kickstarter to fund the release of the first volume, due out in Spring 2020. New issues are planned every six months.

Arkworld follows Seth and Cleito, two normal people in love in the year 11,000 BCE who are thrust into a deep state conspiracy with the fate of civilization hanging in the balance. This is ten years after the “Gods” have left, leaving a power vacuum in their wake. The story bounces back and forth between the present and the past, showing how Seth and Cleito affect the state of the world today.
Arkworld is written by Josh Blaylock, illustrated by Travis Hymel, colored by Jasen Smith, and lettered by Micah Myers. It features covers by Kristofer Harris, Jordan Gunderson, Jenevieve Broomall, Hoyt Silva, Matt Merhoff, and Larry Watts.

Rewards for the Kickstarter campaign include digital and physical copies of the comic, prints, t-shirts, commissions, and getting drawn into the comic itself. The campaign runs through January 11th, 2020 and at the time of this writing, it’s about halfway towards its funding goal.
