The Batman may be heading for the cross-town rival.
Collider reports Christian Bale of the Dark Knight trilogy is in talks to join Marvel Studios’ upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder. His role is, of course, unknown as Marvel likes to withhold such details until the best moment for them.
The film will reunite Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi with stars Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson. But in an interesting wrinkle, Natalie Portman returns as Jane Foster, a character from the first two Thor films whose romantic entanglement with the God of Thunder ended poorly. The film will see Jane become Thor while Hemsworth Odinson does, um, something else? It is also rumored Thompson’s Valkyrie — the current King of New Asgard — will be on the search for a queen. Will it be Jane?
As for Bale, he’d make a smashing Malekith. Sure, the part was played by Christopher Eccleston in Thor: The Dark World, but we tend to forget a lot about that picture; like the character getting crushed under his own ship. He could also show up as Loki’s (Tom Hiddleston) biological father Laufey, whose absence from the films series could be addressed now that the Infinity Saga is at an end.
Thor: Love and Thunder is scheduled for release on November 5th, 2021
