Drowning In Eternity: Old Guard Force Multiplied #2 Reviewed

The authorities have had time to investigate the shootout between Andy, Nile, and the human traffickers. One of the FBI agents on the case is dropped a line by Nile and the two seem to hit it off–much to Andy’s chagrin. Elsewhere, Booker has been taken out to sea by a professional crew aware of his immortality. They are led by a mysterious woman who implies that she too is immortal. While she’s interrogating Booker, she learns that his former allies are hitting another trafficking operation.
Old Guard: Force Multiplied #2 finds Nile getting into the swing of things with Andy and the others while Booker is being tortured by a woman with a grudge against the Old Guard. It gives neophytes such as myself more of grasp on the personalities of the team. Nicky and Joe exchange some charming dialogue and we see how protective Andy is of Nile.
We also get a fair amount of time with Booker as he talks back to the woman trying to get the location of the others. He’s stubborn and bold. His captor is still a mystery, but she’s definitely quite angry at the Old Guard.
We get another extended action scene in which Andy and her team take on another human trafficking operation. They stealthily tear their way through a team of these people before the shocking cliffhanger ending. It’s all pretty damn cool.
Leandro Fernández puts together another gorgeous issue, playing well with lighting and shadow. His action scenes are punchy and cathartic. His ability to play with character expression is impressive too. Daniel Miwa delivers atmospheric and balanced color work which brings the visuals together terrifically.
Old Guard: Force Multiplied #2 is another strong issue for this sequel series. We see how the team is developing after the addition of Nile and departure of Booker, even if it seems like no one can truly leave the kind of life they lead. Regardless, this comic earns another recommendation. Feel free to check it out.
