The Cassian Andor Star Wars series is finally getting some additional cast members.
Variety reports actors Stellan Skarsgard and Kyle Soller have joined the series, which stars Diego Luna as his Rogue One: A Star Wars Story character and Alan Tudyk as his opinionated droid companion K2-SO. The series is, of course, a prequel to Rogue One as both characters experience a profound status change during the film. Said to be a spy thriller in the early days of the rebellion against the Empire, it features the talents of The American‘s Stephen Schiff and Rogue One writer Tony Gilroy behind the camera. Besides writing the pilot, Gilroy will also direct several episodes. It is, of course, unclear when production will begin the COVID-19 pandemic continues to play havoc with production schedules and release dates.
Also unclear are Skarsgard and Soller’s roles. It is easy to see them as both Rebels or Imperials. Although, it would be interesting to see Skarsgard as the person who convinced Cassian to join the Alliance.
The as-yet untitled series is penciled in for a 2021 release on Disney+.
