Comic-Con@Home: ‘RWBY’, ‘Red vs. Blue’ and Transformers News From Rooster Teeth

Production company, Rooster Teeth, unveiled tons of news regarding their different shows early Saturday afternoon during Comic-Con@Home. Their panel informed fans what they can expect for many of their animated series. Present were Barbara Dunkelman, Kerry Shawcross, Yssa Badiola, Fiona Nova, Torrian Crawford, and F.J. DeSanto.
Rooster Teeth’s first web series, Red vs. Blue is heading into its 18th season with the name Red vs. Blue Zero. It will be Nova’s first voice over experience as she plays the lead of Agent One. Crawford shared it would embrace the legacy, cool characters and action of the show and takes place in the same universe right after season 17. However, it is a different story with a new cast of misfits on their own adventure but some of the old school characters might appear. It serves as a good entry point for everyone and will premiere this fall.
Badiola’s Recorded by Arizal is a new short form vlog series where the main character learns that the things she’s signed up for in life aren’t what she wants to do. There are soft sci-fi elements but leans more towards slice of life. It’s about growing up and loss, and being relatable and learning new things. Arizal has recently premiered on the website.
Arriving this Thursday on Netflix is Transformers: War for Cybertron Trilogy: Siege. DeSanto described it as a lost story, large scale show that will feature your favorite robots from over the decades and is more sophisticated and intelligent than it is dark. It does fit into the main generation storyline from the Hasbro toys and is a prequel to G1. Though it stands alone, there are parts that connect into the broader franchise. Two characters that are in Siege are Teletraan One and Autobot, Cliffjumper. Both are voiced by Miles Luna.
Finally, Dunkelman and Shawcross spoke about RWBY. In the new season, Volume 8, one of the main themes is distrust. Dunkelman added that just because you respect someone, doesn’t mean you have to always agree with them. Volume 8 will premiere later this year and Shawcross is already writing Volume 9. To go along with the new season is some special merchandise. They have teamed up with artist, Babs Tarr for limited edition RWBY items. The Volume 7 soundtrack drops on July 31, 2020 on all streaming platforms and for purchase. Then, they have teamed up with Good Smile Company to release Pop Up Parade collectibles starting with a RWBY figure. Pre-orders will begin on August 3, 2020.
