‘Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes’ Gains Over $2.4 Million In Its First Week On Kickstarter

by Sage Ashford

At the start of the week, Rabbit & Bear Studios, a team of talented developers known for their work on the Suikoden JRPG series announced their intention to do a spiritual successor to the game franchise with Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes. They announced a Kickstarter with a goal of $500,000, which they immediately smashed through within the first few hours as people funded the game so quickly it crashed the website.
Since then, they’ve broken through multiple stretch goals, chief of which were the ability establish a fortress town in the game (a staple of the Suikoden franchise) and a console port of the game. The other stretch goals include adding a cooking mini-game, a fishing mini-game, and a New Game Plus mode.  The developer will also adding four additional characters, bringing the total above the initial 100 and closer to the 108 Stars of Destiny the Suikoden series was known for.
Fortunately the stretch goals don’t appear to be anything that would significantly change the scope of the game and they’ll be able to maintain the schedule they have set in front of them.
Eiyuden Chronicle: Hundred Heroes is launching for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Xbox Series X during Fall 2022. A release on the Switch is being considered only if Nintendo hasn’t released a Switch successor.
