‘Black Panther’ Star Chadwick Boseman Dead At 43

by Erik Amaya

Absolutely crushing news spread across the Internet Friday night as various outlets began to report Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman had died at age 43. His family later confirmed it with a post on his Twitter account revealing the actor lost his battle colon cancer.

In a statement given to various sites, including Variety, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige called Boseman’s passing “devastating” adding, “each time he stepped on set, he radiated charisma and joy, and each time he appeared on screen, he created something truly indelible. He embodied a lot of amazing people in his work, and nobody was better at bringing great men to life. He was as smart and kind and powerful and strong as any person he portrayed.”
As it turned out, Boseman played T’Challa in Captain America: Civil War, Black Panther, and the most recent Avengers films, Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall in Marshall, and characters in films like 21 Bridges and Da 5 Bloods while keeping his cancer treatment private. Indeed, many on Twitter pointed out the actor visiting a children’s ward full of cancer patients just a couple of years into his own battle with the disease.
The outpouring on social media as news of his death spread was palpable with co-stars, vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris, and fans all expressing their grief and sympathy for his family. We at Comicon also extend our sympathies to Boseman’s family and colleagues. It is truly a loss we can scarcely find words to express.
