Pick Of The Week: Comics Worth Reading From The Past Week Of New Titles
by Olly MacNamee
We offer you just two comics from this past week of new comic book titles for your reading consideration, but both a well worth your time and investment:
Fantastic Four #23
Written by Dan Slott
Art by Paco Medina
Colour art by Jesus Aburtov
Lettering by Joe Caramanga
As tie-ins to major comic book publishing events go, this really won me over. What I first thought of as yet another crass tie-in evolved over three issues into a fun, thrilling distraction from our regularly scheduled programming and shined a light once more on Valeria and Franklin while also give FF fans an alternative team, albeit rather shirt lived, featuring Spider-Man and Wolverine; a great double act when written by Dan Slott. – Olly MacNamee
Strange Adventures #5
Written by Tom King
Art by Mitch Gerads and Evan Shaner
Lettering by Clayton Cowles
This issue is dominated by Alanna Strange, who is definitely growing into her role as the power behind the throne that is the perceived heroism of Adam Strange by not just one but two separate planets. But, is all as it would first seem, or is there more to Alanna and her plans that first meets the eye? One of the most intriguing comic books coming from DC Comics this year with great contrasting art styles to perfectly reflect the tone of the nostalgic-tinted flashbacks on Rann and the more down-to-Eartha nd grounded tine of Earth. – Olly MacNamee
