The Child Gets More Expressive In A ‘Mandalorian’ Season 2 Trailer
by Erik Amaya
Disney+ and Lucasfilm have finally released a trailer for The Mandalorian‘s upcoming second season. It’s low on key details, but illustrates the growing vision of the series as Din Djarin’s (Pedro Pascal) search for The Child’s people takes him across the galaxy to familiar terrain and startling new worlds.
One thing the trailer withholds: Ahsoka Tano. While the character will reportedly make her live action debut during the season (in the form of Rosario Dawson), the figure we’re meant to identify as a Force-sensitive in the trailer appears to be someone other than the famous Jedi exile. Other newcomers to the series like Temeura Morrison, Micheal Biehn, and Timothy Olyphant are also absent from the trailer.
In fact, the only recognizable characters we do see — besides Djarin and the Child — are Greef Carga (Carl Weathers) and Cara Dune (Gina Carano), whose participation in the second season was confirmed before the first season even streamed.
Nevertheless, the trailer still has tantalizing glimpses of a return trip to Tatooine (note the Tusken Raider riding a bantha), an ice world, a water world, and some place well guarded by New Republic X-Wings. And sprinkled throughout, of course, is an increasingly expressive Child who is getting used to Djarin’s unique investigation methods. This is the way, after all.
The Mandalorian returns to Disney+ on October 30th.
