Kickstarting Comics: ‘Tripwire’ Magazine Special Edition With Kieron Gillen, Scott Dunbier And More

by Olly MacNamee

Long running online comic book and pop culture website Tripwire started life as a print magazine (1993 – 20030 and it hopes to jump back into that field with a special one-shot edition set to be released before the end of this year. It’s now up and running again for a second round, this time with Kickstarter, to secure the funding necessary to make this pipe dream a reality.

I have to admit to not only knowing the creator, editor and contributor Joel Meadows, but being one of the many writers contributing to this special edition (I have a career retrospective of Neil Gaiman). It also means I’ve had a sneak peek at the fished product and it does a great job of including a large amount of big names across the spectrum of comic book industry. There’s interviews with Kieron Gillen, Vault Comics’ CEO and publisher Damian Wassell and IDW’s Scott Dunbier as well as features on comic book cross-overs, a spotlight on UK indie publishers Self-Made Hero and much more.
For more on this campaign, go check out the Kickstarter here. It’s already halfway there, so why not show it some love?
