More ‘Black Hammer’ Coming Later This Year
by James Ferguson
Jeff Lemire is one of the most prolific writers in comics between creator-owned work and super hero books at other publishers. In his latest newsletter, Lemire shared his plans for 2021 and they include some more Black Hammer from Dark Horse Comics, which is always a good thing.
The writer said that once the current mini-series Skulldigger and Skullboy, Colonel Weird: Cosmagog, and Barbalien: Red Planet wrap up, the plan is to focus on one core Black Hammer title. That will be Black Hammer Reborn, debuting in the Spring or Summer of 2021.
There is also a Madame Dragonfly series drawn by Black Hammer Dean Ormston and another series drawn by Tyler Crook on the way. Both will build on the supernatural / mystical side of the Black Hammer Universe and will dovetail into Black Hammer Reborn.
Perhaps the most impressive part is Lemire casually drops that he has already written twelve issues of Black Hammer Reborn. The series hasn’t even been officially announced yet. You have to admire that work ethic.
I’m definitely looking forward to what 2021 will bring for the Black Hammer Universe. These books have brought something new and different to the super hero genre so more of them is definitely welcomed.
