Explore Evanescence’s Music Through ‘Echoes From The Void’ Anthology Comic

by James Ferguson

The latest Evanescence album, The Bitter Truth, drops next week from BMG and you’ll soon have something to read to accompany the new tunes. Incendium and Heavy Metal Entertainment have teamed up with the band for Echoes from the Void, a fantasy anthology series from the Opus imprint. Each book will be 48 pages in length featuring two or more story adaptations from the Evanescence catalogue beginning with story themes from The Bitter Truth and revisiting classic material from the band’s career.

All in all, Echoes from the Void will feature an array of short stories created by a number of graphic artists, animators, illustrators, fine artists, screenwriters, novelists, and more, including contributions from Amy Lee and Carrie Lee South.

Bandleader Amy Lee is overseeing the creative direction of the art and stories. It’s planned as a 5-issue series. The first issue will feature stories written by Carrie Lee South and Blake Northcott, inspired by the songs “Better Without You” and “Wasted on You” with artwork by Abigail Larson and Kelly McKernan.

The first edition of each issue will be released as a prestige format limited edition with card stock covers, specialty foil treatments, glossy pages, and individual numbering. There will be only 3,000 copies available of these editions and they’re priced at $18.95. You can pre-order the first issue now at the Incendium site, shipping in June 2021.

Artwork from Echoes from the Void will be available to purchase through archival fine art prints with the first one coming from McKernan. These incorporate symbols and themes from the band’s discography through pained work that will also debut a mysterious original character. The first print features a blue tint glow in the dark base with a luminous pink UV active overlay and limited to only 500 pieces. It’s also available on the Incendium website.
