Kross Studio Releases $150k Death Star-Inspired Tourbillion Watch

Kross Studio has another incredible watch available for the pop culture aficionado. We’ve seen them take on Batman with a pretty sweet Batmobile piece. Now we’ve got a watch inspired by the Death Star from Star Wars. Feel the power of the mobile space station and planet-destroying superweapon right on your wrist as this watch becomes the cornerstone of a new 10-piece series.

Each set contains an official screen-used kyber crystal, the power source of the Death Star’s superlaser, as featured in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story. Faithful to the film storytelling, Kross Studio has conceived an official reproduction of the containers used to store the powerful and precious crystals, made of wood and aluminum.

More than 700 parts were needed to produce each container, scaled to half the original film dimensions of 3.94 feet long. They’re completely hand-assembled and hand-painted, embodying the saga story down to the smallest detail. Inside, the container is divided into nine storage units. Three sections secure three removable capsules containing the Death Star Tourbillion watch, three timepiece straps sets, and the genuine movie prop kyber crystal. The other six storage units are available for fans to house their personal Star Wars collectibles, secured within a removable top cover.

The watch itself features a 45mm black DLC coated grade 5 titanium case. On the surface, a green superlaser cannon stands reminiscent of the space station’s kyber crystal enabled power.

It features a manual-winding mechanical movement that provides a 5-day power reserve. The hands have been affixed to a peripheral display that orbits 360 degrees around the tourbillion. Kross Studio developed a D-ring shaped crown on the case back for winding the watch. This is stowed out of sight. The quick-release buttons are hidden on the underside of the case and allow collectors to change the straps from the included calfskin leather to either of the two other rubber straps without issue.

The Galactic Empire emblem is shown at the center of the piece and the push-button features an engraving in Aurebesh script, an alphabet used in the Star Wars galaxy. The hour hand is shaped like an Imperial-Class Star Destroyer and the minute hand is a Super-Class Star Destroyer. The fixed hours wheel is filled with white superluminova “blue emission” inspired by the lighting halls within the Imperial vessels.

Only ten of these collector sets will ever be produced. They can be purchased on the Kross Studio site for only $150,000.
