Peter David Returns To X-Factor In ‘X-Men Legends’ #5

by Tony Thornley

Marvel’s X-Men Legends has stormed into the past and mined forgotten tales. Now the series brings back one of the longest tenured writers of the franchise to tell a tale of X-Factor’s days gone by.

In July’s X-Men Legends #5, Peter David and Todd Nauck reunite to tell a mystery that comes together like a puzzle. Mutants have taken hostages, and X-Factor is taking the blame. But before judgment is rendered for Polaris, Havok, Wolfsbane, Strong Guy, Quicksilver, and Multiple Man, Val Cooper and X-Factor will take the stand. But who’s telling the truth, and what really went down at the Latverian Embassy? It all makes sense…from a certain point of view.

“X-Factor are old friends of mine, and I was delighted when Marvel gave me the opportunity to revisit them,” David said. “I have to admit, I was a little concerned since so many years have passed. But the moment I started writing them it was like no time had gone by it all.”

David’s run on X-Factor is one of the longest on a single Marvel title, spanning years of his career and multiple volumes. It’s surprising that the writer has any untold tales left that he could tell. I guess we’ll see in July when X-Men Legends #5 debuts.
