John McCrea Comes Out Fighting With A New ‘Dead Eyes’ Art Book On Kickstarter

by Richard Bruton

Artist John McCrea launches a new Kickstarter for his 200-page Dead Eyes Art Book soon!

Gerry Duggan and John McCrea‘s Image series, Dead Eyes, was a massive success when the first volume appeared in four issues and a collection in 2019-2020.

Now, before the start of the second series, McCrea has announced a new Kickstarter campaign for the Dead Eyes Art Book, a new hardback with a cover from Rian Hughes. It promises to be a collection of “artwork, script, and bonus behind-the-scenes bits” from the Dead Eyes series, so expect plenty of Dead Eyes good stuff with Duggan and McCrea both involved.

And as you’d expect, there’s going to be plenty of extras and stretch goals offered, with McCrea mentioning original artwork, new sketches, digital colouring book, and exclusive prints.

The Dead Eyes Art Book Kickstarter all kicks off on Wednesday 28th April. You can sign up here to be notified of the launch.

If you need any reminder, or if you somehow managed to miss a really great book, you can get hold of the first volume of Dead Eyes at any good comic shop.

“In the 1990s, Dead Eyes was a prolific stick-up man and hoodlum in Boston until he took down one last big score and disappeared. Nobody ever discovered the truth. He retired to be with the love of his life, but now he’s back in the mask to save her. No one—not his wife, the mafia, or the cops—is happy that he’s out of retirement.

From John McCrea, the artist and co-creator of Mythic and Hitman, and Gerry Duggan, the writer of Analog and Deadpool, comes the action, comedy, and drama of Martin Dobbs, a.k.a. Dead Eyes, the man who says he’s descended from one of the original gangs of New York City.”
