Kaci Walfall Strikes A Familiar Pose In ‘Naomi’ First Look Photo
by Erik Amaya
The Multiverse is definitely alive in our first look at The CW’s Naomi.
The networked released a photo of actor Kaci Walfall as the title character on Friday which was clearly inspired by Jamal Campbell‘s cover of Naomi #1. It is quite an evocative image considering where the character is headed. Based on the DC Comics character created by Brian Micheal Bendis, David F. Walker and Campbell, the project comes from filmmaker Ava DuVernay and former Arrow writer Jill Blankenship. The proposed series will follow a teen girl’s journey from her small northwestern town to the heights of the multiverse. When a supernatural event shakes her hometown to the core, Naomi sets out to uncover its origins, and what she discovers will challenge everything we believe about our heroes.
The series will also feature Barry Watson as Naomi’s adoptive father Greg and Mouzam Makkar as her adoptive mother, Jennifer. Other actors joining the pilot include Mary-Charles Jones as Naomi’s best friend, Annabelle; Aidan Gemme as Annabelle’s boyfriend, Jacob; and Daniel Puig as Nathan, who is described as “a high school jock who briefly dated Naomi.” Also set for the series are Alexander Wraith, Cranston Johnson, and Camila Moreno.
Of course, as the program is only set for a pilot, it is possible The CW will pass on it as they have with other recent DC Entertainment concepts like Green Arrow and the Canaries and Wonder Girl. It is also possible several members of the cast will change or see their parts removed if the program goes to series. But for the moment, a very good publicity still like this one suggests the show will be picked up and we’ll likely hear about that soon. As it happens, the network typically announces its Fall season plans in May.
