‘Venom: Let There Be Carnage’ Trailer Adds A Little Chaos
by Erik Amaya
It’s been awhile since we saw Eddie Brock or Venom (both Tom Hardy), and as this trailer for the upcoming Venom: Let There Be Carnage reveals, the two are adjusting to living together quite well. Venom is now accustomed to human food and Eddie’s negotiated a protection deal with Mrs. Chen (Peggy Lu). But as the Venom movies aren’t just character studies, there is a new threat in the form of Cletus Kasaday (Woody Harrelson), a convicted murderer whose execution does not go as planned. Will Eddie and Venom be able to stop the symbiote seemingly activated during Cassady’s date with lethal injection? And how does it relate to Naomie Harris‘ Shriek?
If the scenes glimpsed in the trailer feel subtly different, that’s because Andy Serkis directed this installment. Other than the breakfast and Mrs. Chen moments, he seems to be going for something a little more serious than the first film. That could just be our perception, of course, as the first film’s best moments were the goofier scenes. Nevertheless, we are interested in seeing what Serkis does with tentpole film base on a Marvel character.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage arrives in theaters on September 24th.
