The Flash is taking next week off. But when it returns, it’s time’s-up for Cisco (Carlos Valdes). His application to A.R.G.U.S. has seemingly gone through and the adventure he wants to have with Kamilla (Victoria Park) is about to begin. Although, if this preview for the next episode is any indication, his departure from S.T.A.R. Labs may still be tragic. Will the original Team Flash unite once last time to save the day or is it curtains for its pop-culture-obsessed member?
And even if its sad to see Cisco and Valdes leave the show, we’re happy it’s going to be a one-off story in between longer arcs. The Force War story had its moments, but the resolution didn’t quite land for us. We get that the situation was meant to give Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton) the impetus to start a family, but the ideas failed to resonate completely. Maybe it needed to be a couple episodes shorter? Also, the Speed Force’s (Michelle Harrison) madness and doubt about the other Forces was resolved with surprising speed. If this idea had been seeded earlier, it might have justified the swift return of a happier Speed Force. Her fear of being alone would’ve been a great motivation earlier on.
Or, maybe, if we’re going to have a story about the West-Allen family, we’d rather seen the real Nora West-Allen (Jessica Parker Kennedy) instead of the Sage Force calling Barry “Dad.” Luckily, that wish will be coming true pretty soon.
The Flash returns June 8th on The CW.
