Oscar Isaac Finally Confirmed For ‘Moon Knight’
by Erik Amaya
As we often like to mention, Marvel Studios’ tendency to keep casting information secret can be downright comical. The most extreme example in recent memory was the studio’s decision to confirm Hailee Steinfeld‘s involvement in Hawkeye a full week after photos of her on the set emerged online. And now, Marvel has confirmed another poorly kept secret: Oscar Isaac will star in Disney+’s Moon Knight series.

The title character, created by Doug Moench and artist Don Perlin, is a millionaire with various alter-egos and personalities. He’s been a boxer, a merc, and, if Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige is to be believed, a moon god. Like the Batman, he uses eccentrically shaped boomerangs and the cover of night to deliver justice. But he’s more than just a Marvel take on Batman.
The television version comes from Umbrella Academy and The Exorcist‘s Jeremy Slater — a name which makes us pretty jazzed for the show as he made that Exorcist program work much better than it had any right to. Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead, and Mohamed Diab are slated to direct episodes of the series, which will also reportedly feature May Calamawy in an undisclosed role and Ethan Hawke as Moon Knight’s oldest enemy is a mercenary named Roald Bushman.
At last report, production was slated to being in March, but it is unclear if this turned out to be true. Although, considering Marvel is only confirming Isaac now, it is possible filming took place earlier this Spring. Alternatively, maybe they decided to get ahead of fans and paparazzi loitering around the set to confirm something themselves for once.
Moon Knight will presumably debut on Disney+ sometime in 2022.
