Batman Has A Date With The Calendar Man In A ‘Batman: The Long Halloween, Part 1’ Clip

by Erik Amaya

It’s clear in the following clip from Batman: The Long Halloween, Part 1 that Batman (Jensen Ackles) and Jim Gordon (Billy Burke) are running low on leads in the Holiday Murders. They’ve been forced to consult of with Julian Day — aka the Calendar Man (David Dastmalchian) — in the hopes of finding a suspect in the crimes. Through the conversation, though, it becomes clear one possible suspect is roaming Gotham City, even if Batman and Gordon don’t want to admit it.

According to the WBHE’s description of the film, “a brutal murder on Halloween prompts Gotham’s young vigilante, the Batman, to form a pact with the city’s only two uncorrupt lawmen – Police Captain James Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent – in order to take down The Roman, head of the notorious and powerful Falcone Crime Family. But when more deaths occur on Thanksgiving and Christmas, it becomes clear that instead of ordinary gang violence, they’re also dealing with a serial killer – the identity of whom, with each conflicting clue, grows harder to discern. Few cases have ever tested the wits of the World’s Greatest Detective like the mystery behind the Holiday Killer.”

Besides Ackles Burke, and Dastmalchian, the film also features the voices of Naya Rivera as Selina Kyle; Josh Duhamel as Harvey Dent; Julie Nathanson as his wife, Gilda; Titus Welliver as Carmine Falcone; David Dastmalchian, Troy Baker as Joker, Amy Landecker as Barbara Gordon; Jack Quaid as Alberto Falcone; Fred Tatasciore as Solomon Grundy; Jim Pirri as Sal Maroni; Alyssa Diaz as Renee Montoya; and Alastair Duncan as Alfred. Frances CallierGreg Chun and Gary Leroi Gray also lend their voices to the film.

As always, the film will be available on digital platforms and physical formats with a number of special features, including another DC Showcase short film. This one focuses on The Losers as they find themselves marooned on an dinosaur-filled island in the South Pacific. Working with Fan Long of the Chinese Security Agency to study the apparent time/space anomaly, the WWII-era outcasts wonder about her agenda and their real purpose on the island. Other features include a sneak peek at Batman: The Long Halloween Part Two, and two episodes of Batman: The Animated Series: “Christmas With The Joker” and “It’s Never Too Late.”

Batman: The Long Halloween Part One debuts on digital and disc June 22nd.
