Previewing ‘Love Me Please: The Story Of Janis Joplin’

Coming in July, NBM give you the biography of one of rock’s legendary figures – the great Janis Joplin in Love Me Please.

When Janis Joplin died in 1970 at the ridiculously young age of 27, music lost one of its unique voices and a woman whose all-too-short life and music would go on to influence rock and roll for generations to come.

In July, NBM Graphic Novels release Love Me Please, a comics biography of Joplin’s short but fascinating life. It tells of her life from childhood to her death, showing us the incredible musical adventure she went on, one that would take her from a quiet young life to the white hot heat of fame in just five years and four records with Big Brother and the Holding Company and as a solo artist (her final solo album would be released a month and a half after her death.)

The graphic novel shows us Janis the young woman, fuelled by the Beat Generation and the desire for female empowerment through the emancipation movement, go from unknown to superstardom. But it also looks at the struggles with drink and drugs, and the crippling doubts of a woman adored by millions around the world.
