‘Magic: Legends’ Announces Shut Down, Servers To Close In October

Cryptic Studios has confirmed they would be shutting down their Action RPG, Magic: Legends, based on popular IP Magic: The Gathering. The studio announced this in a Twitter post on the Magic: Legends Twitter account, where they mentioned the game, which was still in beta, would be officially shutting down at the end of October. Little is mentioned as far as reasoning, save that they talk about their game “missed the mark”.
Magic: Legends was announced in 2017, with the game being built to be an MMO at the time. The game evolved into a Diablo-like game by the time footage of the game was shown off, and the title entered open beta this past March. Considering the game had only been in open beta less than a year, it’s hard not to wonder what targets they failed to hit that would cause them to shut the game down so quickly.
