Death Note Creators’ ‘Platinum End’ Anime Reveals First Trailer

by Tito W. James

Platinum End follows Mirai Kakehashi, a student who attempts suicide but is rescued by his guardian angel, Nasse, who not only has vowed to protect him, but bestows him special powers as he is also one of 13 candidates chosen by different angels to take the role of God, who is to retire in 999 days.

The anime is based off of the manga by Death Note creators Tsugumi Ohba and Takeshi Obata. The premise of facing 13 opponents to become God sounds remarkably similar to Future Diary (Mirai Nikki). Not that it’s a bad thing; both Death Note and Future Diary have gained loyal fanbases because of their mind-bending plots and blood-chilling thrills. Hopefully this new anime will deliver some unique surprises. Platinum End will run for 24 episodes starting in October.
