Comic-Con@Home 2021: New Anime Coming From Crunchyroll

by Gary Catig

Like they did last year, Crunchyroll held an industry panel at Comic-Con@Home. And like last year, they covered several of their offerings to fans, including their current mobile games, the JRPG Princess Connect Re: Dive, and the co-op multiplayer online RPG, Mitra Sphere. They also plugged their upcoming virtual event, Crunchyroll Expo, which will be held August 5th to the 7th.

The majority of the presentation was focused on series fans can watch on the Crunchyroll service. There are favorites such as the latest seasons of One Piece and My Hero Academia along with returning anime like That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime Season 2 and I’m Standing on a Million Lives Season 2. Crunchyroll also mentioned the latest series debuting on the platform, including Tokyo Revengers, To Your Eternity, Peach Boy Riverside, Girlfriend, Girlfriend, Tsukimichi: Moonlit Fantasy and Seirei Gensouki: Spirit Chronicles.

They also unveiled future titles. Coming soon — in conjunction with Adult Swim — is Fena: Pirate Princess. It follows the titular character, someone who cannot remember much from her youth except a young boy saving her the night her father disappeared. As an adult, she finds the origins of a mysterious crystal left to her by her father and soon finds herself the captain of her own ninja pirate crew who travel the high seas looking for adventure.

In Sakugan, human kind is reduced to living in a single colony with the surrounding unexplored region called the Labyrinth. Only the bravest of people, “markers,” set out to map the region. This mecha action series arrives in October.

Orient is based off of the popular manga of the same name. The protagonist, Musashi, is a 15-year-old boy living in a version of Japan’s Senguku period ruled by demons. He uses his certain special power to confront these demons.

The self-explanatory The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in Another World as an Aristocrat is about an assassin who is transported to a different place and learns that he will be the heir to a long line of killers. With the skills he’s learned in the modern time combine with the magic and equipment of his current world, he could become the most unstoppable assassin in history.

There were several series announced during the panel, too. In the Land of Leadale has its main character bedridden with her only interactions occuring in a VRMMORPG. After she passes, she finds herself in the game 200 years later with some characters she’s designed herself. It will arrive in January 2022. Coming this October is Restaurant to Another World 2, in which a nondescript restaurant opens its doors exclusively to unique guests from a parallel world composed of different races and cultures. More information about the anime will be revealed at Crunchyroll Expo. Finally, also set to debut this October, is The Night Beyond the Tricornered Window. All his life, a young boy has the ability to see creepy things no one else can. A chance encounter with an exorcist has them teaming up in this horror mystery.

With so many new anime on its way from Crunchyroll, which one are you most excited for?
