After announcing his retirement back in 2020, Masaaki Yuasa and Science Saru released a trailer for their latest film INO-OH. Based on the novel by Hideo Furukawa, INO-OH takes place in the 14th century in Japan, and revolves around “Sarugaku” performances. Sarugaku translates to “monkey music” and the performances are like outdoor musical circuses. It is unclear whether Yuasa is coming out of retirement or if this was a final project in production after Japan Sinks 2020.
