New From Avery Hill: Lord Hurk’s ‘Jinx Freeze’ Gives You A New Take On The Crime Heist

by Richard Bruton

Coming in October from Avery Hill – the latest from Lord Hurk, Jinx Freeze, a completely different look at a good old-fashioned heist tale…

Hurk’s been an original voice in UK comics for the past two decades, and his latest, Jinx Freeze promises ‘a fresh, lively heist story’ – which sounds (and looks) very nice indeed.

Hurk describes himself, brilliantly, as a “Comicsmith & Narrative Graphics Engineer” which is way, way better than just a comic artist!

If you’ve been following the UK comics scene for any time, you’d have seen his work in various anthologies from Britain, Europe, and the USA, with his first graphic novel, Ready For Pop, published by Knockabout in 2016.

As for just what Jinx Freeze is about… well, here’s the Avery Hill PR…

“Crime has descended on the normally tranquil Riviera – a solid gold sculpture on loan from the Gurgleheim Museum has been stolen and the local police force are well out of their depth. They need help and they need it fast. But local Henshin hero King Gianthead Fighter Policeman O.X. is lost in a waking reverie of lucid dreams and his potential replacements – like Modern Tahzen and Danny Kildare the Space Priest – aren’t faring much better. And why are people going into the Great Exhibition of 11851, the pop-up selfie experience in the middle of town, but not coming out again?

Fortunately, Marge Maggiore has picked up the trail and has a plan to catch the villains and save the day – if only she can clear her name for a crime she didn’t commit!”

Yep, that does sound rather damn good. And, as you can see from the previews below… it’s looking pretty damn good as well.
