‘Pokemon Legends: Arceus’ Introduces The Hisui Region

by Sage Ashford

While Game Freak and Nintendo have remakes of their fourth generation Pokemon series on the way in November, they’ve also got a much larger game on the way in Pokemon Legends: Arceus, and their most recent Pokemon Presents introduces players to the game’s Hisui Region, which is what the Sinnoh Region was called in the distant past. Set during an era where “humans and Pokemon’s lives were still separate”, Pokemon Legends: Arceus introduces a different approach to exploration and catching Pokemon. Rather than simply running into them randomly, Trainers will need to sneak around and catch some Pokemon unawares, and sometimes capture them without using a Pokemon to weaken them first.

Trainers are part of the Galaxy Expedition Team, and are assigned to study an area in the Hisui Region. While it seems like Jubilife Village will be a main area for the game, when Trainers go out exploring or doing survey work, they’ll have to learn how to use base camps to restore their Pokemon’s health and craft new items. As Trainers play the game, they’ll fill out their Pokedex and rise in ranking amongst the Galaxy Expedition Team.

Pokemon Legends: Arceus releases January 28th for the Nintendo Switch.
