Despite assurances that their incarceration would be secure, Sportsmaster (Neil Hopkins) and Tigress (Joy Osmanski) are back in Blue Valley … but Pat (Luke Wilson) and Courtney (Brec Bassinger) seem willing to help the husband-and-wife ISA duo. What reasons could compel Stargirl and Stripesy not just to offer aid, but also shelter? Is Pat hoping to learn more about the Black Diamond? And will Courtney be able to befriend their daughter, Artemis (Stella Smith), before Cindy (Meg DeLacy) recruits her?
As it happens, last night’s episode left us with more questions than answers. Why is The Shade (Jonathan Cake) so interested in the Black Diamond? Is he really trying to help the JSA despite wearing the guise of a villain? We definitely hope so as The Shade is always more interesting to us as villainous character who allies with the heroes.
Meanwhile, will Mike’s (Trae Romano) experience with The Thunderbolt make him more susceptible to Cindy when she finally tries to assemble her Injustice Unlimited? We imagine this will be the case. But maybe Pat will figure out a way to include him more on the team before that happens. Also, we can’t wait to see Mike’s reaction when he discovers Jakeem (Alkoya Brunson) benefited from his last wish.
One more thing about Mike: we’re grateful he and Yolanda (Yvette Monreal) had a chance to chat about their life-ending moves in the Season 1 finale. Although Mike described his as more than an accident, you almost have to wonder if he’s avoiding trying to process what occurred. For Yolanda, the guilt seems amplified by a leftover Brainwave attack, but it is raw on its own, nonetheless. It is possible Eclipso will use Mike’s unresolved feelings to take root in his soul. In the meantime, though, it is nice to see the two at least broach the topic.
