Tony Fleecs & Trish Forstner’s Canine Friends To Grace Upcoming Dynamite Variant Covers

by Erik Amaya

As we mentioned on Thursday, Tony Fleecs & Trish Forstner will be contributing a canine-infused variant cover for the upcoming Mirka Andolfo’s Red Sonja #2, but it turns out the dogs will be let loose on some more of Dynamite’s titles. The company announced Friday that the Stray Dogs creators will also contribute new covers for Army of Darkness: 1979 #2, and Vampirella #25 (see below).

The pair have a wealth of experience on properties like Star Wars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Transformers, and My Little Pony. Fleccs also played a key role in developing the Lil’ Dynamite line of character designs for variants and one-shots. But as seen in the three covers, their charming canine friends offer Ash, Vampi, and Sonja a decidedly Don Bluth dimension.

Stray Dogs, meanwhile, is described as “Lady and the Tramp meets Silence of the Lambs” — a great description for the series as these covers also take great advantage of the juxtaposition between horror and Disney-esque animals.

Mirka Andolfo’s Red Sonja #2, Army of Darkness: 1979 #2, and Vampirella #25 all reach stores in October.
