Ubisoft Announces Free 2 Play PVP Title ‘Ghost Recon: Frontline’

Ubisoft has announced Ghost Recon: Frontline, a new free-to-play, tactical action PvP game. Developed by Ubisoft Bucharest, Ghost Recon: Frontline is the latest in a series of attempts from Ubisoft to develop F2P titles with their existing IP, alongside the recently announced The Division: Heartlands.

Ghost Recon: Frontline will allow players to pick from a variety of contractors as they explore Drakemoor Island, a massive open world filled with unique biomes.  Players will also be able to choose between three classes: Assault, Support, and Scout. More classes will be added to the game in later seasons.

The announcement trailer mentions only one mode, expedition. In that mode, players are dropped onto Drakemoor Island in three-person squads and asked to find intel scattered across the island. Once the players find their intel, they have to go for extraction, which will make them noticeable by everyone else on the island, who can come gunning for them and steal the gathered intel. It’s been confirmed more modes will be available in the game, though expedition appears to be the central focus.

No release date has been given for the game yet, but there is a closed European PC test starting the 14th.

Ghost Recon: Frontline will be available for PlayStation and Xbox consoles, PC, Stadia, and Amazon Luna.
