Brief Thoughts On ‘Supergirl’ Season 6, Episode 17

by Erik Amaya

Three episodes of Supergirl remain and if this preview for next week’s show is any indication, it might be the last for William Dey (Staz Nair). But will it also be the episode in which Andrea Rojas (Julie Gonzalo) is discovered using her powers? The tone of the preview definitely suggests a big moment occurring.

And, really, we’ve reached a point where bigger things need to happen. Sure, Kelly (Azie Tesfai) and Alex’s (Chyler Leigh) engagement is a big, emotional thing, but we’re talking a big pivot in terms of the plot. Despite the fact we thought such a pivot would occur last week, the Superfriends and Team Nxly are still searching for the totems. That needs to be resolved at a faster pace, and not just because we think the finale should be more concerned with Kelly and Alex’s wedding than the Nxly.

At the same time, Jon Cryer does something interesting here with Lex who found love in the distant future. We’re not sure if we need it at the same intensity next week, but it’s a pretty strong idea to tie him into the final episodes. Also, you have to wonder what really killed his Nxly in the future.

Shame that the show didn’t keep up with Orlando (Jhaleil Swaby), though …

Supergirl airs Tuesdays on The CW.
