ICYMI: ‘Morbius’ Trailer Offers Further Hints At Spider-Man Universe
by Erik Amaya
Early on Tuesday, Sony released a new trailer for Morbius, the long-delayed film staring Jared Leto as Dr. Michael Morbius. As seen in the trailer, his radical cure for his rare blood condition leads to side-effects which are positively vampiric. Will it also lead him down the road of the anithero or a legitimate foe of Spider-Man?
Indeed, the trailer plays fast and loose with its ties to the webslinger. He appears on posters declaring him a murderer and Micheal Keaton appears in one moment as Adrian Toomes — leading one to think the film may be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. But the reference to Venom also suggests it may occur in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe. Add to that the events of Venom: Let There Be Carnage‘s stinger scene and you get … well, a whole lot of ambiguity. Maybe that’s a good thing as Morbius is himself ambiguous.
Morbius comes to theaters on January 28th, 2022.
