The ‘Legends Of Tomorrow’ Reach Chernobyl In A Preview Of Next Week’s Show
by Erik Amaya
20th Century time travel is difficult. And as the ne’er-do-wells of Legends of Tomorrow are about to find out, it’s unpredictable without super-advanced tech. As seen in the following preview, Dr. Davies’s (Matt Ryan) prototype time machine is out of power and nowhere near the Time Bureau Tahiti safe house circa 2021. Instead, they’re at Chernobyl and very much behind the Iron Curtain. Meanwhile, Bishop (Raffi Barsoumian) completes his counterfeit Waverider, but will it be his to control?
As for this week, we’ll be happy if Nate (Nick Zano) keeps causing the deaths of history’s greatest assholes. That said, it is interesting that Bishop’s robot army includes J. Edgar Hoover and Thomas Edison. Meanwhile, Nate and Zari 1.0 (Tala Ashe) continue to be our favorite couple. Just look at how fast they worked out their conflict about living together. Although, we expect Nate won’t become a permanent resident of the totem until much later in the season.
Tangential to that: Gary (Adam Tsekhman) has never come off more like a creep that he has in the past two episodes. It’s well past time he bonded with someone in a more genuine way, if just to make his interest in Zari 2.0 and even his hello to Gideon (Amy Pemberton) less icky.
Beyond all the coupling and robot weirdness, we have to say the season has had a lot of momentum so far. Trapping the Legends in the 1920s restored a lot of the energy it missed last year. Hopefully this will continue as Bishop gets closer to becoming the season antagonist again.
Legends of Tomorrow airs Wednesdays on The CW.
