Disney+ Day: Hulu’s ‘Prey’ To Be A ‘Predator’ Prequel

Arguably, the Predator film series has always focused on the alien hunters’ human prey, but that will become a more literal thing when Prey, a Predator prequel, debuts on Hulu next year.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the film will take place 300 years in the past, when a Comanche warrior named Naru (Amber Midthunder) clashes with a Predator to protect her tribe. 10 Cloverfield Lane‘s Dan Trachtenberg will direct. No writer or other cast have been announced.
Hulu seems to be the ultimate home of the 20th Century Fox franchise characters. Prey joins a planned Alien TV series on the streaming service. It seems like a good fit as long as the branding is clear. Y: The Last Man suffered from confusion as part of the FXonHulu brand, which saw people at a loss of where to find the show. We also hope positioning Alien and Predator on the service leads to a more robust 20th Century library on Hulu in the future.
And although not Disney+, the Prey announcement came during a morning of Disney+ Day announcements, which included a new Chip ‘n’ Dale’s Rescue Rangers, an update on 20th’s Cheaper by the Dozen, and more.
