Natasha Liu Bordizzo Reportedly Joins ‘Ahsoka’ As Sabine Wren

Sabine Wren reportedly has a live action face.

According to Variety, Natasha Liu Bordizzo has joined the cast of Disney+’s Ahsoka series as Sabine Wren. The Star Wars Rebels character, a Mandalorian with a love of art, was voiced by Tiya Sircar throughout that series run. On that series, the character was part of a Rebel Alliance cell which included Jedi exile Kannan Jarrus (Freddie Prinze Jr.), Twi’lek pilot Hera Syndulla (Vanessa Marshall), Lasat honor guard member Zeb (Steve Blum), and Force-sensitive orphan Ezra Bridger (Taylor Gray). Late in the program’s first season, the cell learned they were taking orders from Ahsoka Tano (Ashley Eckstein), who would also recur for the next few seasons. The program ended with Ezra missing and Ahsoka and Sabine teaming up after the Battle of Endor to find him.

Indeed, it is presumed Ahsoka’s (Rosario Dawson) appearance in the second season of The Mandalorian was connected to her quest with Sabine, but Ahsoka co-creator Dave Filoni (who is also the executive producer of Ahsoka) teased that the episode may take place before Rebels‘ final scene. The presumed inclusion of Sabine in the upcoming Ahsoka live action series more or less confirms the program will continue the plot from Rebels.

Bordizzo has appeared in films like Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, The Greatest Showman, and Guns Akimbo.

Beyond Dawson and Bordizzo, no other cast has been announced or even heavily rumored by trade sites. Filoni and The Mandalorian creator Jon Favreau are onboard as executive producers with Filoni presumably taking on most of the creative duties.

Ahsoka will reportedly begin production in early 2022.
