SDCC 2022: Funko Enters The World of Video Games
by Gary Catig
Funko has become a juggernaut in the world of pop culture. They have their ubiquitous and adorable figures that span all types of fandoms. Under their umbrella, they have the lifestyle brand of Loungefly, which creates licensed boutique style bags, wallets and accessories. Recently, they have acquired high end collectible company Mondo. With such an influential presence, it’s no surprise they were the final panel in Hall H for the entire San Diego Comic-Con.
It looks like they are trying to conquer another industry as it was announced they are developing a video game. They are partnering with developer 10:10 Games for a AAA title. Five-time BAFTA award winner Jon Burton will lead the effort.
The game will be an action platformer and can be played on next gen consoles and PC. It will contain major third-party integration and is expected to have a “T” for teen rating. From the looks of the trailer, it seems that Funko mascot Freddy is excited from the announcement.
