In the wake of Devil’s Reign the superheroes of New York need to regain the confidence of the city’s citizens. Hand picked by Mayor Luke Cage, the Thunderbolts are exactly the heroes the city needs. Returning Thunderbolts scribe Jim Zub is joined by his former Uncanny Avengers artist Sean Issake to kick off this new era of Marvel’s team of heroes who deliver justice like lightning.

Hawkeye and Spectrum lead a line-up of veteran heroes, mysterious newcomers, and conflicted anti-heroes. The team includes America Chavez, Power Man and Kara Killgrave- the daughter of the Purple Man. They’re joined by newcomer and supersoldier Gutsen Glory, and the strange creature Eegro the Unbreakable. Their first mission? Taking down the Kingpin’s corrupt Thunderbolts who terrorized the city duing Devil’s Reign!

“A lot of times people will look at a cast of characters and say, ‘This team lineup is different so this isn’t the team I want,’ but, it’s like you said, the Thunderbolts have gone through so many iterations. There have been incarnations where they’re purely criminal, others where they’re criminals trying to be heroes, and everything in between, but I’ve always felt like, at their heart, the Thunderbolts are a team struggling for redemption,” Zub said about the new roster in an interview with CBR. “Individual members and the team as a whole struggled to dig themselves out of their worst selves or resist the natural pull of who they’ve been in the past. So, for me, redemption is the heart of the Thunderbolts concept.”
