Michael Waldron To Write ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’

by Erik Amaya

Michael Waldron‘s work in the Marvel Multiverse continues.

Deadline reports the writer, who spearheaded Loki and wrote Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, will script Avengers: Secret Wars. The film is expected to be the culmination of the Multiverse Saga, which truly kicked off with Loki‘s Season 1 finale. In that episode, the Multiverse held at bay by He Who Remains (Jonathan Majors) re-asserted itself, creating all sorts of chaos and incursions that are still being felt.

Secret Wars will also be the second half of a two-part Avengers story. The first half, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, comes from director Destin Daniel Cretton and writer Jeff Loveness. Presumably, that film will see Kang, a variant of He Who Remains also played by Majors, succeeding in his ultimate goal and taking control of the Multiverse.

Then again, speculation may be a bit premature without actually meeting Kang. The character will debut in February’s Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, where he will be the primary antagonist. A scene from the film shown at D23 Expo last month suggested he will force Scott Lang (Paul Rudd) into planning another heist to recover something he lost. The film will begin Phase 5 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe while Secret Wars will close out Phase 6.

Avengers: Secret Wars is set for release on November 7th, 2025.
