‘The Experience’ To Offer Unique George Perez Shirts This Friday
by Erik Amaya
While The Experience is known for its original art and collectibles livestreams, it is doing something a little bit different with this Friday’s show.
The episode, hosted by Dynamite CEO Nick Barrucci, will pay tribute to the legendary George Perez with a night featuring original art and three custom shirts hand-made by Perez’s wife, Carol Flynn. Proceeds from the sale of the shirts will go to Flynn while part of the proceeds of other art sold during the show will be donated to Tower Cancer Research Foundation and Lustgarten Foundation: Pancreatic Cancer Research in the late comic creators’s name.
The look of the shirts will be familiar to anyone who ever saw the Perez on the convention circuit — or if you’ve seen any photo of him online recreating his iconic cover for Crisis on Infinite Earths #7 — bright and colorful, the button-down shirts often featured various animated characters and other designs. Each were made by Flynn. The three available during tomorrow’s show will have patterns including Tweety & Sylvester, a frolicking panda, and hot air balloons.
In addition to the shirts, original pieces of art on offer will range from Bob Layton pieces in homage to Perez, pages from Thanos vs Hulk by Jim Starlin, and Fantastic Four, Ghost Rider and Wolverine art by Ron Garney. George’s longtime art agent Spencer Beck of the Artists Choice provided the shirts and worked with Layton on the art for the show. Other surprises are in store as well.
Bill Cox, owner of Comic Art Fans, will also appear during the show, which is scheduled to begin at 7pm ET/4pm PT on Friday, December 2nd. Those interested in the shirts, art, and the show can head over to the episode’s landing page on YouTube.
