‘Transformers: Reactivate’ Sounds Like ‘Warframe’ But With Transformers

by Sage Ashford

During The Game Awards, developer Splash Damage (Gears Tactics, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory) announced a partnership with Hasbro to release a new game in the Transformers franchise, Transformers: Reactivate.

Officially, not much is known outside the announcement trailer. The main focus appears to be the Transformers’ war against a new threat known as The Legion, with players gaining the chance to fight this new threat as some of their favorite characters. Press releases discuss the game being a 1-4 player online action game that will be coming to consoles, but not much else.

Unofficially, news about this game has been leaking out for several years now. The game was originally known as Transformers: Rise during its time as a Certain Affinity project. In everything from lengthy Google Documents to YouTube videos containing leaked info, the game sounds like Warframe. Players take on different missions to unlock blue prints and tech specs, granting them the ability to unlock new Transformers over time.

Of course, some of this could change by the time the game releases. However, the Closed Beta for Reactivate starts in 2023, so much of how the basic gameplay loop works has already been locked in place.

Transformers: Reactivate is scheduled to release on consoles and PC.
